The Mobile Game Mario Kart Tour Available to Download

One of the most iconic video game characters of all time, Mario, is getting a brand new game in 2019 for iOS and Android devices. And the company providing it is Nintendo, the same which invented Mario more than 3 decades ago, along with the legendary 8-bit console Nintendo Entertainment System.

The game has brand new tracks to explore by Mario’s little car, inspired by real cities which will change every two weeks, and other interesting stuff.

Mario Kart Tour is already available to download on the Google Play Store and iOS App Store, and it will go live for all gamers at 13:30 IST.

The game is free, more or less

The installation of the new Mario game on your smartphone is free, but Nintendo will rely on in-app purchases which require players to reach for their credit card.

“The game will be free to start, but then there will be in-app purchases,” said Patrick O’Rourke, tech analyst and managing editor of MobileSyrup, in a telephone interview. “Like other Nintendo mobile games, it’s expected there will be an in-game currency to download new tracks and characters, as well as a limit on how long you can play before you have to purchase more time.”

And hey, you know what they say: nothing is actually for free in this world, right?

Online Multiplayer mode?

There’s a good chance the game will have an online multiplayer mode since the official description mentions the existence of an online ranking system. Unfortunately, there’s no official confirmation from Nintendo if such mode will be available.

Racing games regarding the famous and funny little plumber Mario don’t represent something new for the gaming world, therefore the developers from Nintendo decided to bring to the new Mario Kart Tour a few features from other similar games.
